Baby Jordan is Here!

Our baby boy Jordan Thomas Greensides was born on November 20 at 3:30 am. He weighed 8 pounds and was 19 inches long and is adorable!.

I had a doctors appointment the afternoon of the 19th and the doctor decided she was going to induce me the next day (I was supposed to call into the hospital at 6:00 and they were going to tell me when to come in). Well, as soon as my children hear the word induction when they are in the womb, they decide to get things going...all of them have done this!

So, I came home and started getting things ready...packing my hospital bag, cleaning, doing some laundry, calling my mom to see if she could come up from St. George that night to watch the kids...all the fun stuff. Well, I started having contractions at around 4:30 (I had also had contractions off and on the night before). They weren't too bad, so when Jason came home, we decided to go to Cafe Rio to get some dinner since I didn't want to cook and I wanted something good to eat before being induced. I wasn't able to fully enjoy my dinner due to the painful contractions that kept coming.

We came home and got the kids ready for bed and waited for Grandma to get here. This was the first time that I had actually gone into labor on my own at home, so I wasn't sure when I was supposed to go to the hospital, so Jason called Labor and Delivery and explained that my contractions were about 6-7 minutes apart, but were only about 20-30 seconds long. The nurse said I might be dehydrated and said to lay down and drink lots of water (doesn't she know if a 9 month pregnant lady drinks lots of water, she isn't going to be able to lay down for a long time without having to get up to go to the bathroom!). So, I did that and the contractions subsided for about 45 minutes.

My mom got to our house and then the contractions started again, worse than before. We chatted with my mom and then we were off to bed, knowing we weren't going to get a great night's sleep considering the contractions. Well, about a half hour after going to bed, we decided it was time to go to the hopsital. My contractions had gotten really painful and were almost a minute long with not too long in between.

We got the the hopsital at midnight and got checked in and everything. I was worried they were going to tell me that I needed to go home because I wasn't in active labor yet. They actually suggested that I could do that if I wanted to, but I decided to stay since everything at home was taken care of and I wouldn't sleep any better there than I would at the hopsital. When they checked me the first time I was at a 3. The nurse (who we weren't impressed with at all!) told me they could give me an epidural when I was at a 4. After about an hour of bad contractions, I asked her to check me again and I was still at a 3, she told me she could give me some shot that should help the pain, so I said of course! Well, the shot did nothing but make me loopy! It didn't help with the pain at all which was not good!

About a half hour later, the nurse checked me and I was at a four! I told her to get me an epidural as fast as she could. She told me the epidural doctor (I know that's not what he's really called) was just finishing up someone else then he would be right in...well, 45 minutes later, he still wasn't there! By this time I was in excruciating pain and Jason was livid that it was taking so long! He kept going out in the hallway looking for the doctor and asking the nurse where he was. Well, he FINALLY came and started the epidural. I was sitting on the edge of the bed while he was doing the epidural having really painful contractions and he's telling me not to move...yeah right! It took him forever to get it in and he got it in right as my water broke and I was telling the nurse I had to push.

At this point, the doctor wasn't even in the room, the nurse checked me and I was at an 8 and she told someone to get the doctor ASAP. Well, when the doctor got there, he told me not to push...yeah right! I told him I couldn't and Jason looked at me and said "He's crowning, don't push!" The doctor wasn't ready at all, so I had to wait until he was ready, I pushed twice and out came our little boy!

So, I had a natural childbirth...not by choice though! The whole time I was in labor at home, on the way to the hospital and in the hospital I kept saying, "Why do people choose to do this naturally, drugs are so much better!" and I still concur, they are great, but only if you get them on time! No worries though...the epidural kicked in after I had the baby!

Anyway...that turned into a really long post, thanks for bearing with me! We named hime Jordan Thomas Greensides and he is adorable! He is a great baby so far and we are so happy to have him in our family. The kids love him. Jaxon is mad he can't hold him and get close to him because he is sick. Brynn is actually doing really well, which surprised me a little bit, I thought she would be a lot more jealous, but she likes to help me burp him and give him loves.

I just have to say thank you so much to my mom for helping with the kids. I know she felt bad that she wasn't there for the birth, but we didn't have anyone to watch the kids, so thank you a million times Mom, we love you!

Here are a few pictures of our new little man...enjoy!

A very proud (and a very tired) Dad!
The scale read 7lbs 15.8 oz...so the nurse said he weighed 7 lbs 16 oz and the doctor was like, "That's 8 lbs."

He really likes to sleep...let's hope he keeps it up!

This Baby is Coming Soon!

So, I just got back from my doctor's appointment and she is going to induce me tomorrow! Wahoo...with any luck, we should have a new baby by this time tomorrow...wish us luck! By the way, the whole name thing, I'm pretty sure it's going to end up being Jordan and not Landon...Jason is not budging on this one :( It's really ok, I like both names, but I liked Landon just a little bit more!

It's Begining to Look A Lot Like Christmas!

So, Jason has been bugging me since before Halloween to get our Christmas stuff out, and I told him there was no way I would put up Christmas stuff before Halloween...for some reason this year, he was so excited about decorating for Christmas! Well, I decided that it would probably be a good idea to get our tree and stuff up before the baby come, so it is one less thing to do after the baby is here (just for the record, I am the type of person that totally believes you should not put up your Christmas tree until after Thanksgiving!)

Well, on Monday we decided that would be a good Family Home Evening thing to do, so we put up all of our Christmas stuff. Jason had a great time "fluffing" the tree. I always let him do it because he does such a great job and he loves it (not really)! Jaxon had fun putting ornaments on the tree in one big clump, and Brynn had a good time pulling the ornaments off the tree...it was a lot of fun! Let me just say, I am not as patient when I am 9 months pregnant, so there were some times when it wasn't so fun, but for the most part, we had a great time.

After we were done decorating, we had hot chocolate and one or two year old candy canes (Jaxon really wanted candy canes and there were some left over from years past, so the kids ate them and thought they were great!). It was a lot of fun and now I get to continually tell Brynn to not touch the tree and put the ornaments back (which she doesn't do) and tell Jaxon to leave the stockings where they are, the Mickey's that look alike don't have to be together, they can be friends without being by each other...it's so much fun!

This ribbon is supposed to be on the tree, but Brynn had a great time dragging it around the house...let me tell you, ribbon that is not rolled up nice and neat, is a little harder to put on the tree than ribbon that is!
Doesn't he look so happy to be the designated tree "fluffer"? (The smile is fake, I told him he had to smile!)
These Mickey stockings sing, so guess what we have to look forward to for the next month...singing Mickey's everyday! Just kidding, the kids love them and they are pretty cute!

He was supposed to help Jason "fluff" the tree...he's doing a great job huh?

Jason decided that he would put the hangers on all the ornaments and I got to hang them (after Jaxon hung them)...isn't that sweet of him. I would have much rather it the other way around!
Most of the ornaments Jaxon put on the tree were on the very bottom, all together in nice little clumps of the same color...he wanted them to be with their friends!
Brynn pretty much just played with the ornaments and rolled them around like they were balls, come to think of it, she does this everyday now!

Hot chocolate and candy canes after a hard night of decorating!

Smurf Mouth!

This is what happens when you aren't watching your child for two minutes! Luckily it was washable marker and came off really easily. She just wanted to color like her big brother! Do you like the total cheesy smile at the bottom she has started lately? What a stinker!

Trick-or-Treat!

We had a really fun Halloween this year! Both my kids were really into trick-or-treating and thought it was a lot of fun. Jason's sister Tiffany and her little boy Gage came with us and it's a good thing because Jaxon wouldn't say trick-or-treat when he knocked on the door...come to think of it, he wouldn't even knock on the doors...he made Gage do it all!

Brynn had a great time and carried her own bag of candy most of the time, even when it got really full and heavy. Toward the end, I would walk up to the door with Jaxon and Jason had Brynn on his shoulders and didn't come to the door, but stayed on the sidewalk. Well, she would get pretty upset if I didn't show her that I got her a piece of candy too...she didn't want to miss out!

We had a lot of fun and are so glad we live in such a fun neighborhood, I think Jason and I had as good of a time as the kids did seeing and talking to everyone too!

Brynn didn't want anymore pictures taken, but I wanted one of her and Jaxon together and this was the best I got!
She didn't want to stand up, maybe the Dumbo ears were throwing off her balance!
Jaxon loved this costume (thanks Shellie for letting us borrow it!) and I think he was pretty darn cute in it!
Aren't they all so cute!
Brynn's dragging behind a little bit, we had been out for a while!

Carving Pumpkins

Since the time we got our pumpkins, Jaxon would ask at least three times a week when we were going to carve them, so the Monday before Halloween we carved pumpkins for family home evening. I am not a huge fan of carving pumpkins, I think it's fun to watch the kids, but I don't like doing it myself, so I leave it up to Jason. Well, we decided it would be fun to do a Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Cinderella pumpkin, one for each of us. So, we got online and found the templates and Jason got to work. He even got out one of his power tools because he thought it would make it easier, but I don't think it really helped!

While Jason was busy doing the other pumpkins, Jaxon was working on his, and I was lucky enough to get to help! So, we carved his cute little pumpkin. He told me what shape he wanted the eyes, and nose and I tired to do some kind of mouth, it turned out kind of cute! We did it kind of backwards and cleaned out the guts after we had carved the pumpkins...that's where Brynn got involved. She thought it was pretty fun to sit on the table and stick her hand in the pumpkin. She also thought it was fun to eat the seeds...gross!

Well, after Jason got done with two of the pumpkins, he decided he was done and didn't want to carve anymore, so we ended up with Jaxon's pumpkin face and Mickey and Minnie. I think they turned out pretty cute! I'm not sure how, but I got stuck seperating the seeds from the guts so we could bake them...not a fun job, but the seeds turned out pretty yummy!

Jaxon's finished product!
Brynn wasn't afraid to dig in and get messy and eat a few seeds in the process!
This was before I started helping Jaxon...not sure what is up with his face!
And this is what Brynn did while I was helping Jaxon...What a cheeseball!
He uses any excuse he can to bring out the power tools!

The finished products!

Fun at the Zoo!

So, back in the middle of October, my parents came up from St. George for the weekend and were nice enough to take us all to the zoo! I'm so glad they suggested it because I had been wanting to take the kids, but hadn't quite made it yet, so it was perfect timing. It was also so nice because the weather was perfect still! We had a great time. The kids loved it! Brynn was actually pretty into it and loved seeing and talking to the monkeys and tigers. I opted to stay outside when everyone else went inside the reptiles and small animal building (that place stinks!), but my mom said she loved it and had a great time in there! Jaxon loved the zoo too, he was pretty fascinated with how big the elephant's "P.U" (in our house that is poo) was and liked pretty much everything else. We had a great time...thanks Grandma & Grandpa

Jaxon was a little tired by the time we took this picture by the big gorilla, but he did it for me anyway! Brynn got scared when we went upstairs in the giraffe barn place...I don't know if she didn't like being that high up, or if the giraffes were a little too close for comfort!
Brynn could have stayed in the monkey house all day long, she loved it! She loved it even more when Grandma held her though!

Jaxon in awe at how big the elephant P.U. was!

Brynn wasn't too sure about being on the rhino!

Be Like Nephi, Dad!

Ok, so a while back we had a Family Home Evening about Nephi and how he was so obedient and always did was Heavenly Father asked him to do without complaining (this was to teach Jaxon about Nephi, but we figured it couldn't hurt to try to persuade Jaxon to be more obedient when we ask him to do something!).

Anyway...whenever Jason or I talk about the baby coming, we call him "the baby" because, no we still have not decided on a name. Well, Jaxon thinks his name should be Landon so he refers to the baby as "Baby Landon". Well, one night we were saying family prayers and Jason said something like "please bless Mom and the baby." Well, Jaxon wasn't too pleased that he didn't say "Baby Landon", so after the prayer, he took Jason's face in his hands and looked him right in the eyes and said, "Dad, be like Nephi...it's Baby Landon." I think he was trying to tell Jason he needed to be like Nephi and obey me and Jaxon and call the baby Landon...what a sweet boy! I just have to say, if we end up naming this baby anything but Landon, Jaxon is not going to be very happy!

No Pictures :(

Ok, so I talked about this a bit on the post about Jason, but I am so bummed right now. I have so many cute pictures to post, but our dumb computer isn't working, so Jason brought one home from work until we get ours fixed. Well, I don't really want to upload all of my pictures to this computer instead of mine, so therefore, I have a ton of cute pictures trapped inside my camera until our computer gets fixed, so I guess I will just have to wait to post our pictures from the zoo and Halloween. Oh well!

Happy Birthday Jason!

Today is Jason's 29th birthday...only one more year until the big 3-0! I thought I would take a little time and write 29 reasons why he is so great, although, he will never see it unless I tell him to look at our blog because he never posts anything, or even looks at our blog for that matter, but here it goes:

1. He is an amazing dad.
2. He is the best husband I could ever ask for.
3. He is very handy.
4. He can fix just about anything (which saves us A LOT of money!)
5. He can build just about anything (you know, like a cabin in Bear Lake, a basement, those kind of small things! This also saves us A LOT of money).
6. He is always looking for things he can do for me, especially lately while I have been not so comfortable because of this little baby inside of me!
7. Just the other night, he could tell I was totally exhausted (maybe it was the fact that I was about to fall asleep during dinner!) and he told me to go lay down and he would watch the kids.
8. That same night, he fixed the vacuum I had torn apart and put back together earlier that day. When I put it together I had a couple of extra parts and it didn't work as well, but when he put it back together it worked great and he didn't have any extra parts!
9. He wakes up with the kids almost every Saturday so I can sleep in, even if it's just for a 1/2 hour and he has done this since Jaxon was born!
10. We like very much a like which makes agreeing on things a little bit easier, most of the time.
11. No matter what kind of day he has had, he very rarely brings his work home no matter how stressed he is and that is very nice!
12. He is always willing to watch the kids while I go to girls night out or to get my hair done or anything like that.
13. He isn't afraid to change poopy diapers!
14. If I didn't think of something obvious, he doesn't make me feel stupid.
15. He cooks Sunday dinner and he cooks whenever he has time to. I must admit, he is a better cook than I am. I can follow a recipe just fine, but he doesn't necessarily need a recipe and it turns out great.
16. He is my best friend.
17. He is very obedient. If the prophet told him to do anything, he would without question.
18. He has been very worried about getting our food storage started which at first drove me crazy, but now I am very thankful for it because you never know what might happen!
19. He has a very strong testimony and isn't afraid to share it.
20. He is a worthy priesthood holder.
21. He puts up with all of my quirks no matter how annoying they are!
22. He would do anything for his family no matter what he had to sacrifice.
23. Our kids never doubt the love he has for them.
24. I never doubt the love he has for me and know it will always be that way!
25. He doesn't care what other people think about him, he's not always trying to impress other people by being something he's not.
26. He doesn't feel like he has to "keep up with the Jones'" and I love that about him!
27. He is always looking for ways to improve himself and improve the life of his family, what a great guy.
28. He is always a great example to me, especially when it comes to scripture reading and daily prayers.
29. He is mine forever and ever!

Happy birthday sweetheart! The kids and I love you very much and hope you have a great birthday...hopefully you will get a new son for your birthday (I'm crossing my fingers!). I would have added a picture of Jason, but our computer is being dumb and Jason had to bring one home from work for us to use and it doesn't have any of our pictures on it, so that's the reason there is no picture...but I will work on it!
